Default O2 sensor. 92 Civic Si.... question

Friend of mine gave me one off of an accord. Told me it's all good. Just use it. It had maybe 5,000 miles on it. Not sure what year, but it was on his mom's car, it got totalled, (she's ok) and it was sitting on a shelf. I take it home, and realize the wire end of the O2 is female, and the part where I connect it to my harness is female as well. Can I cut the wires off the old one, match the colors and reconnect?

If I can, just disconnect the battery, wait like 5 min. reconnect, and start the car without hitting the gas. CEL is on. I had an ecu code (1) O2 sensor. If the car likes the O2, will the CEL go off on it's own, or do I have to something else to get it to go off?

I sould have just gotten a new one, but I'm not that smart. lol Have to try the hacker / tweek backyard mechanic way first. It's the only way to learn all of this shit. lol

Thanks in advance.

this is a kind of tricky question I think.

If they are both heated 4 wire o2 sensors I don't see why cutting the male end off your old sensor and putting it on the new one wouldn't work. I think it would work just fine

BUT......make sure you solder the connections and they are heatshrinked and very very very solid connections. The white o2 wire is extremely sensitive
