Default steering problem

ok i have a 93 del sol running on 17" alloys lowered by 40mm and the steering is all over the place, goes where it wants to go. ive just had the tracking nd camber checked by a proper tyre shop and everythings ok. any suggestions as its driving me wild at the moment and im ready to trow the towel in. all the bushes are ok the lower arms are good and o are the upper ones, its as if the rack is not up to the job of things.

It's because you have wider wheels and tires. More friction on the ground is great for cornering but it will also catch imperfections in the road.

Are the front tires wearing OK? Any camber kit installed?

I had Bilstein HD's with H&R OEM sport (only about 3/4 inch drop) with 205/50/15 tires. After replacing all the front and rear parts, I got some Kumho's. The fronts wore out very fast on the inside edge causing the steering to become very unstable. The more they wore out, the more unstable. I switched to a longer wearing tire, switched to 195/60/15 and went back to stock springs. Steering better now.

This also happened about two years ago when the trailing arm bushings were going (rear steering). So check the arse end of your car also.

It could be the steering rack also, but I don't know what it feels like when it starts wearing out. I thought for sure that was my problem.

Default ref steering

hi thanks for the info. im not running a camber kit as ive had the camber checked and its fine. the tires are not wearing on the inside edge and everythings looking ok. i took your advice and ive checked the rear bushes and they are solid. the rack has now developed a slight knocking noise when its turned hard and fast. im going to get a garage to check out the whole car and check everything that could go wrong. it drives as if the rack is loosing pressure and going limp on me.
