I suspect my cooling fan is dead or its the relay where is the cooling fan relay on a 1993 honda civic lx? if the relay isnt dead how do i test the power going to the fan with my little meter?

 

Alot of times when the fan stops working, it is usually the cooling fan switch that stops working. It is a sensor located on top of the thermostat housing that kicks the fan on when the coolant reaches a certain temperature. To test it is very simple. Unplug it, start your car, and put a paper clip or wire between the two prongs to turn the circuit on. If your fan turns on then you know your relay works, and you know your fan works, so it has to be the cooling fan switch. If it doesn't that either the fan doesn't work or your relay doesn't work. You can test the fan by unplugging the terminal that plugs directly into fan and wiring it directly to the battery. By the way the relay should be under your hood. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
