Hmm ok let me see if I understand... If the door is open you cant lock the door..?? If that is the case its made like that, To lock the door with the door open you have to Pull the handle open like you are opening the door before it will lock ... its a safty feature...

Lift the interior door handle then try to push the lock, its a safty device so you dont lock your self out of the car

if that dont work then it would seem your mechanism is seized up and you need to either unseize it or replace it !!!!!!!!!

its a saftey thing, just lock it when you get outta the car, just turn the key left and it locks all the doors, christ is it that hard? its so much better since u cant lock your keys in your car...lol i figured it out like 10 mins after i had mine...lol

that is if you have auto locks....like mine

Every honda I've had has been like that as early as my '86. You'll be so used to it in a week it won't even matter.
