Default 05 Si vs 06 RSX?

Hi Everyone,
I'm newb and I need some help deciding between an 06 RSX and a New 05 Civic si. I currently own a VW GTI and though I love my car it's costing me hundreds every month. From the time I first saw the 02-05 si's I've been drawn to them, and I'm thinking of buying the last remaining 05 I spotted in a dealership. (the 06 si's aren't really for me) The only problem is that I noticed this petition online that 245 people have signed claiming they're having SERIOUS issues with gears grinding in their si's. The link is below
http://www.petitiononline.com/civicsi/petition.html
is this a common problem?..has it happened to anyone else???
I like the 06 RSX, but I'm not sure I can afford it and I like to 05 si far better and it costs less.
thanks any advice would be appreciated..

My suggestion would be RSX Type S only from expericene. The RSX base is good a will do but you might as well go all out. The Si grinding issues has also come up in 02-03 Rsx so try to stay away from those years. I own a 05 S type and I love it compared to my 02 Base. I would weight out the options or Just get the RSX-S
The Si motor is the same as the Base RSX(At least that is what I was told)
Good luck!!

Default I guess so

Well as i am the owner of an 03 Integra R (i dont live in the states) I much love my integra, well i guess yur Type S altho there is more in dynamics to the asian Integra R than the USDM RSX Type S i still would take over the Civic Si. isnt it odd that here in thailand we were not offered The Cicvic Type R since 96 !!!Anyway i would not choose the civic, just my thoughts , and maybe that gear grinding is just bad shifting? We have not had a problem like that arise here, the street racer wanna be just have to be a little more precise in shifting in these cars ,thats all i think it comes down too.

Thanks for the replies..
I'm thinking of getting a base RSX. I've been hearing about a lot of problems with the synchros in Civic si's and some of the earlier RSX's. I'm really surprised that these cars have these issues! makes me want to rethink about VWs

Honda >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Volkslemon in terms of reliablilty and driver satisfaction.

For every person who swears by their VW, there's another person who's had a horrible experience with one. Its a hit or miss thing, and guess which car is almost always second-last to Kia in problems per 100 cars? Thats right, VW.

I'm willing to bet the problems you might get with the RSX or Si would be much better than VW.

I actually didn't have ANY problems with my GTI until it hit 150K and now ...well it's just scary. I actually know all of the service guys at my dealership on a first name basis and I know what hours they work. I guess I'm just going to have to buy the RXS type-S so I'll have to save up (especially for the premium gas) or I'll wait until the 2007 model if my GTI makes it!

why not just go with an 06 si? its a direct competitor to the 06 type s... the 05 just doesn't compare stock...
