When I taking a tranny off, I'm I have to use an engine hoist or I can just support the engine from the bottom?

 

The engine can be supported with a floor jack. Just drop the tranny onto your chest and remove from the car, it weighs maybe 60 lbs.

 

if you dont have a jack, have someone on top control the movement of the tranny and someone underneathe supporting the weight of it. like schmoo said, its not that heavy.

 

So, I need a person to help me. When I will drop it on my chest someone has to pull me out

May I use another jack to lower tranny on a ground and lift it back on?

 

Lifting it back on will definitely require a few more hands. The awkward angle makes lifting that easy 60 lbs very hard.

You don't have to have a jack supporting the motor because there are still a few motor mounts still holding it in there, but if you don't feel safe with it unsupported, you can keep the jack under it.

 

Ok, I thiought that it is not enough to leave a motor on mounts only.

 

Should I perform some other maintenances or replacements while tranny and engine are not together? I'm talking about parts like seals or anything else.
Tranny is going to be with 44-49k miles on it and engine has 62k.

 

The motor is always on mounts. There are five of them. Three of them will be removed to remove the tranny. The remaining two will be fine to hold up the engine temporarily.

If the clutch is worn, look into replacing it. Besides that, there isn't much else unless your axles are bad.

 

there is a much easier way to drop the trany... pull the axles and linkage remove all the crap on top battery/starter.. blah blah blah.. drop the front end all the way to the ground, unbolt the tranny and jack it back up. vwallah!

 

When I will picking up tranny from junkyard, how can I define that it is for
EX (D16Y8). Is there tranny code for EX? I don't want to get one for LX. I have an automatic tranny btw.
