Did you add too much? Did you make sure to tighten everything up?

are you sure its not extra oil that spilled on the exhaust? are you smelling it or are you seeing a drop in the oil level in the dipstick? keep in mind, you might have to add some oil after you fill it up and run it cuz the oil filter holds a bit of oil also.

Is the area around (below and behind) your valve cover oil filler cap saturated with oil? [overfill/spill]

Is the bottom of your oil pan saturated with oil after driving? [overfill/spill]

By burning oil, are you smelling it or noticing a drop on your dipstick or oil light?

It is probably just burning the extra that spilled onto the exhaust. I would get underneath and make sure you don't have a leak that is causing it to fall on the exhaust pipe and burn.

did the oil filter gasket stick to the block when you took the old one off? if you double gasket you could spring a leak right where the filter is.

:werd:, keep an eye on your oil level though and check for leaks when you leave a parking spot just in case.
