Yep. Time for a new ignition coil.

If the timing belt hasn't been changed in the last year or so, have it changed very soon. The service interval is 90K miles or every six years, which ever comes first. Failure of that belt will ruin your day.

Given the age of the car, you're due for your third timing belt, tensioner and water pump.

My point in mentioning this is that your timing belt may have slipped, throwing off the ignition timing.

Pop off the distributor cap and have someone turn the key. If the rotor does not move then your timing belt snapped. Your car will still turn ober w/a snapped timing belt it just won't start.

You can't rule out a slipped timing belt based on how fast the engine turns over.. :eh: I mentioned the possibility of a slipped timing belt to draw your attention to a critical maintenance issue. If you don't know when that belt was replaced last, replace it soon.

As far as diagnosing your stalling problem, an engine needs fuel, air & spark to run. If one of those is missing or inconsistent, she won't. I suspect it's spark, either due to timing, faulty plug wires or a dead ignition coil.

a good indication of eminent coil failure is if your RPM needle jumps once in a while.
