Just asking, but why are you looking for anything special? Just ask your local mechanic, or find one near you. I dont know exactly how far you plan to "rebuild" your motor. But at least my job, when we do topends, we just pull the head and send it out to get the valve jobs done. So either way the shop wont be doing the machine work. Unless they have a machine shop there. The valves need to be matched to the seat, so local mechanics probably wont do that. Ill probably be rebuilding my motor, and its pretty straight forward, hopefully if they made a living thus far working on cars they can rebuild a motor. Again im not real sure the extent you plan to go, if your just looking at new valve train, or pistons/rings/rods then a local place will be fine. They will probably send out to get the boring done if need be as well.

 

i don't trust my local shops. i don't trust anyone locally. where i live, nobody can trust nobody. you go to a local shop, put cams, pistons, rods and then everyone knows whats under your hood. then snakes come after your ride. the hell with my town. i rather go out. well, basically what im looking to do is a whole new valvetrain and some high comp pistons. i need someone to do my block (i will take care of the head) and then put the motor together and ready to tune. lookin for a shop in NY city or NJ. a good one please...

 

when i went to the dyno to tune my car the owner gave me a number of some guy that does excellent work and hes seen his engines that have been built put 300whp+ being turboed but i'm from ct, i do'nt know if thats any help?
