damn smog

Default damn smog

yes its me again..........so like my car needed it tags for registration but in order to do that i needed it to be smogged for my bi-annual, well the damn car wont pass smog. ive tested it 5 times each time costing me bout 40 bucks, so in total bout 200 big ones, i pass the visual n function all times its just emissions i cant pass for shit. they tell me that its my cat convert. n its not burning the gas right... well i have 97 rs, n of course wit the damn obd-II so i cant use a damn aftermarket cat or hi-flow one...well here is a pic of my test results, if anyone can tell me why its not passin i would deeply appreciate it

Definitely the cat...I had the same problem, and the same problem with an OBD2 cat. Magnaflow/Carsound makes an OBD2 legal cat. http://www.car-sound.com/catalog/universal/430.aspx

Your numbers are not that bad. I have failed way worse and a new cat made all the difference. It put it way under. If all else has already been done, swap the cat. With all you spent on tests, you could have bought one. lol...

Yep, the cat converter is likely dead.
I'll probably have to replace mine within the next two years. :squint:
I came pretty close to failing the 15mph HC this summer. h:

hey if u still cant pass, take the other way out and do it illegally. i know someone that can hook it up for 250.

Just had my smog done. 457 ppm on the "NO" portion with a max allowed of 467 @ 15 mph. Although I passed I'm still concerned next time I may not, as well as any performance issues that may come up. Called around and the dealer most likely says its the cat. but can't really tell with out me shelling out money for them to look at it. I have a 99 LS with around 95K on it. I last got the 90k service around 88 or 89k. Any thoughts would help.
