Default IACV question

I just tried to take my IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) off my car to clean it out. It seems to be attached to some hoses on the bottom that are awkward to detach. Is there a way to clean it out without taking it off the car? I mean, can i just detach the rubber gasket with the metal filter in it and clean that out, and then put it back on? Also, should there be one little metal filter or two? Because it looks like there's only one on mine and the other hole is just open. Could I have dropped the 2nd filter or is there not one? Thanks.

only one of the those ports has a metal screen. remove the lines, you don't want to get cleaner into your coolant lines.
