Default Just got my stock GSR, a few mod q's.

hey,
I posted pix of my 00 gsr about a month ago when i first got it. So far, its awesome. I love it! Its pretty quick for being stock and I want to keep it smogable to CALIFORNIA standards. The last car I had, a 96 Eclipse GST was modded like crazy, 20k at least invested turned it into a low 11sec monster BUT it stuff always broke, mostly stock parts due to Mitsu's poor quality and it wasnt reliable and it wouldnt pass smog. I know there are differences between the two, turbo and non-turbo but it was a nightmare. it was fun driving fast but now eh, quick if good enough. I want a car i can drive the heck out of, while keeping it reliable and smoggable. I know this topic has been covered a thousand times and i'm gonna get hit for saying i want to make it quick but smoggable LOL.....damn, ADD made me forget what i was talking about....oh yea.... As far as mods go, i'm gonna get I/E/H first and maybe a vtec controller and i want to keep it stock looking and sounding as much as possible...aaaaaaaanyway. I dont have a place here i can buy parts from (that isnt shady) and I have no idea where online I can get parts. A good, reliable online store. Can anyone recommend some to me please?

oh ya, back to my ideas on upgrades. I heard the apexi intake sounds good and isnt too loud and the RsR exhaust is good and not loud and stock lookin. As far as headers go, i have no idea. Price really isnt a factor. i'm rich. LOL. not really but I got extra money to spend.......crap, my boss is coming. Later, thanks guys.

if u want an intake taht looks stock and gives u nice gains comptech ice box, rsr is really nice exhuast as well very sleeprish, as far as a vtec controller u don't really need it with i/h/e, if u decide to do other mods then u may want to look into it. There are plenty things that u can do that will keep u legal, but a vtec controller isn't legal FYI..

Also i have skunk2 stage 1 cams, that are street legal if u are intrested they have a carb sticker and all that good stuff only 6k milies on them, got instructions and orginal boxes, $425

^ what he said

Also, another possibility for the exhaust, as far as what I've heard and read about, is the Apexi WS2. Not too stock-looking, cause of the mirror-like finish, but it's not that loud unless you realy step on it. Have some fun here with listening to the sounds, but keep in mind that for a lot of them, it seems as though the mic was somewhere close to the muffler, so they'll all seem a bit loud, and some of the sound qualities are weird, but you'll get a general idea as to how they sound.

as for headers, you could do what like 75% of ppl do and get the DC Sports header, or if you wanna go more expensive (can't vouch for whether they perform better...) there's the GReddy and Comptech headers.

Intakes...yeah, if you have the money, and you want something relatively stock-looking and not really loud, I'd say the comptech would be your best bet, as GSSR said.

Here are some online sites you can take a look at that I found that seemed like good places to shop:

www.modacar.com
www.summitracing.com (these ppl really like their customers...)
www.passwordjdm.com (some really cool stuff here, but more expensive)
www.nopionline.com
www.performancecenter.com
www.kteller.com (some crazy thing there...)
www.rev-auto.com (some decent prices on some parts)

there are a whole host of sites out there...so just shop around and see what you like!

I've also had great experiences with overboost.com. Fast shipping, reasonable prices, well-trained staff.

Have you considered the GReddy turbocharger for your DC2?
It's CARB legal and reasonably priced for the power gain.
Or are you done with FI in general?

You are in so-cal and you can't find somewhere to buy parts? You must not be looking hard enough. Where did you get everything for the eclipse =P?

Try these
www.ipsracing.com
http://www.heeltoeauto.com/
http://store.yahoo.com/yhst-1408381693991/

Intake mugen, j's, comptech
For header look into toda, smsp, hytech, rmf, dtr, mugen.
A quiet exhaust I run is RS*R, you can also look into getting kteller custom piping. Mugen twin loop is suppose to be quiet as well. My rs*r was quieter than the twinloop on my friends prelude.

These are just a few suggestions, search around and check out the sponsors

JDM ITR header w/ heatshield/carsoundcat/rsr exmag/comptech icebox. Your car will look almost like stock. That is my plan. I am currently running AEM CAI/Exmag. In the near future, I am planning to purchase a JDM ITR header w/ cat. That should complete my exhaust setup. GL
