Default Can tranny be the only problem

i just had my clutch changed in my 90 teg and the clutch is broken in but now if stretch my gears even a little i have grinding going into third but if i baby the clutch its fine. I'm sorry if i'm not being discriptive enough or too much. But when i strech the gears out third feels like it shifts and is wider. I read in a post before that its probally the tranny i think. But i never had this problem before i had the clutch changed. I bought the maintance book for acuras pertaining to my teg and it said changing the clutch involved taken apart a tranny. My mechanic isn't the type to mess jobs like this up + he races his self and has all kind of bad ass jobs in his shop at all times. I really would not want to give any insult but as i said i didn't have this problem with the stock clutch before.

i don't know exactly whats wrong, but changing the clutch involves removing the transmission, not taking it apart.

i am not sure if you can use a 98 tranny. i would stay within the same generation, in your case its the second generation integra. the reason being is that some transmissions are hydraulic and others are cable.

check the fluid level, if the trans is low on 90 wieght, It may start to grind or feel hard at shift points...your mechanic may have not checked the fluid level when he was done installing the clutch, I always check mine after, just in case!!

vpuppy thanks double for answering my question first and second giving me the right question to ask or thing to check for with the tranny. Also my mechanic builds race cars and has a rx7 with a vette tranny it( he said you just might have to change bolts and stuff but as long as you have the room it will work. Dont qoute me like its that simple but you know how your mechanic can make it sound that way.
