Default ATF-Z1 transmission fluid

Why is Honda so adament about AFT-Z1 transmission fluid? My owners manual says only to use Dexron III in an emerency and have it flushed out. It actually says "drain and refill it 3 times". What's the deal with this? I would normally use Mobile 1 synthetic trans fluid but this harsh a warning has me thinking this may not be a good idea. The manual has no such warnings about engine oil or differential fluid.
It does have the same warning about the power steering fluid, coolent and brake fluid.

Are the real differences in this stuff?

Honda automatic trannies are very fragile, so I wouldn't deviate from what the manual says if you want the tranny to last you any decent amount of time. I highly recommend Honda genuine fluid for all Honda trannies.

The power steering fluid on most cars can be ATF, but with Hondas, it must be formulated to work in a Honda steering rack. Most auto parts stores will have fluid made for Honda racks, so you don't need to go to the dealer to get some.

The coolant and brake fluid are fine to be substituted with non-OEM fluid.

Never ever use any fluids in a Honda (aside from motor oil) other than the genuine Honda brand.

What do you drive?

CR-Vs and Elements require Honda Dual Pump.

Pilots, MDXs, and Ridgelines require Honda VTM-4.

S2k's use any LSD-safe gear oil, IIRC.

Passports and SLX's aren't really Hondas, I don't remember what they take. Probably regular gear oil.

I have no idea what the old all wheel drive Civics take.
