Default What is underneath my factory leather steering wheel cover?

I want to replace it, and I think that black will look good. My dash is a mix of black and tan, and since my shift lever is black leather, I think that a replacement with black leather might look good.

Here is the problem: The original tan leather OEM goes an inch or so into the spokes - toward the center of the steering wheel. The leather appears to tuck into the airbag.

On the factory Honda replacement black leather cover, it does not.

SO... if I cut off/remove completely the tan leather cover, what is underneath? Can I put on the black and still have a fairly factory-looking job?

Opinions?

It was completely unnecessary to create a new thread. It's most likely a black vinyl steering wheel.

No it's a nasty metal frame that needs covered in leather.......
$<200 will get you a new wheel. I think the sticker is $150 ish if I recall.

They have used vinyl wheels on ebay all the time that go for next to nothing.

That's not a factory replacement part, it's an accessory cover for stock black vinyl wheels.
