I'd rather have the Si. The doors are really beginning to open for K series engine modifications, not that it's news or anything. But I'd say there is more potential for performance mods if and when of course.
I've driven both. And I'd say overall I'd like the Civic Si better because of all the stuff that goes along with any Honda. And I'm not too sure about how well the Scions will hold their resale value.

 

Scion is Toyota so I would guess the resell value would be comparable.

Although, Acura is above Honda, Scion seems to be below Toyota. Who knows :dunno:

 

I drove a tC and an 04 Si last Thursday. The tC is a decent car but it fealt really porky and I didn't feel the low end grunt that the 2.4l motor is supposed to have. The Si, on the other hand, felt really tight and was a blast to drive. So I went back Friday, traded in my 00 Sentra SE, and bought the Si.

So one vote for the Si, at least! :thumbup:

My objective opinion that i'd look at the Si vs. the Mazda3. The Scion tC feels a bit too....out of touch to be a sporty car. Its hard to describe, the shifter could be better, and you can feel its heft. It does have a lot of potential however and it is a great bang for the buck, along with Toyota's reliability and resale (not like Honda is that far behind anyways). The Mazda, however, will give you a whole fleet of options and is very well priced. It also feels and looks better to me. If it was Mazda vs. Civic i'm not too sure what i'd take. However i'd take them both over the Scion.

 

Mazda 3's only saving grace was that it was built in Japan.

 

...and the fact that it has a great value and better ride than the tC. I also think it looks better.

 

i've driven both and own an si ... by the numbers both cars are pretty closely comparable ... compression ratio's, bore, curb weight, valvetrain etc. are basically the same, the only thing that caught my eye with the tc is the 163 lbs of torque versus the si's 132 ... however the driving experience is NOT comparable, i don't know what toyota did with that extra torque but you sure as hell can't feel it ... in my opinion the si is a much better drive.

 

i own a 2005 si, the miles on the car are only 2400, so in other words is completly stock, till two days ago. I raced before two tc's with my car being completly stock and took em both by at least 1 car, and one of the times was from a complete stop with four people in ther car and three on the tc, the third time was coming from south beach in the high way but i had already installed my short ram intake, and again took him doing 110 mph at least both of us, now this are facts from me to you, you decide...
