Default Want 300HP+ 2005 RSX Type-S

I just bought a 2005 RSX Type-S and want to push it over 300HP. I've looked at the HKS Turbo kit and Cybernation Motorsports Turbo Kit. Which is better? Also I'm trying to find an aftermarket crankshaft in case I want to go more than 325hp. I've read that the stock crank will handle 300hp for awhile but don't want to take any chances.

That seems like a lot for a brand new engine to me anyway. I'm not so sure I'd want to try to push it that far. But if I had to guess I'd say the HKS turbo kit is probably better.

You are going to be looking at more engine parts than just a crank for that kind of power. You should think about some lower compression pistons and beefier rods.

I haven't heard anything about a Honda crank having integrity issues. Usually the crank is the last thing replaced on a performance motor. Maybe it is different with the K-series. :dunno:

I haven't heard of the Cybernation kit, but I trust HKS a lot. They make some very good quality stuff and I am sure that you will not be disappointed. What are you doing about engine management?

Cybernations was the first company to start making turbos for the RSX and are known across the continent for their turbos. The HKS kit as far as I know puts down smaller numbers, but at a much higher price.

As for engine management for the HKS kit I think it would use the V-Con Pro (sp? I always forget the name) and they showed the kit off on a 2005 RSX at SEMA. As for Cybernations kit, i'm not really sure.

I'd just get some quality boltons (Mugen, Toda) and a Comptech race S/C

That'd make 300hp....

...just not to the wheels

It'd give you a better power curve for road racing and auto-x too.

if you want 300 hp+, then cybernation is the way to go as far as "bang for your buck" goes. HKS doesn't put out the power of Cybernation. therefore, hks<cybernation.

on stock internals with high ass compression ratio, and a motor that cost a shit load great advice... unless you are willing to spend the money to do it right don't bother with that cybernation POS, buddy had it blew his motor first night, gone for a year, now it sits parked and isn't boosting nearly as much.. do your research see what type of fuel management u can run and what not casue that is goign to make or break your system.. and way out the pros and the cons, i personally have a greddy turbo kit on my GSR, and it is by no means the best or puts down a shit load of power compared to some kits, but it is a hell of a lot more reliable and i don't sacrafice drivablity nearly as much
