Default 3.0cl vs 2.2cl

its time for me to get a "new" car. both of these '97 cl's are in great shape w/all mant. records up to date etc.. the 3.0 has 96k and has not had the timing belt/waterpump done yet while the 2.2 has. the 2.2 is a stick, the 3.0 is an auto. i could get the 2.2 for probably around $4,500, and the 3.0 for near $7000. opinions please!!!

Default Cl 3.0

I OWN A 97 CL 3.0 AUTO WITH 55.000 MILES. ITS A VERY NICE CAR AND HAS A LOT OF HP TO USE THEM IF YOU CAN IN YOUR COUNTRY. IN MINE (ARGENTINA) NORMALLY WE CAN SPEED WITH NO PROBLEM AND I USE IT IN AVERAGE AT 100 MILES IN THE FREEWAY. I ALSO RIDE A PRELUDE 98 2.2 VTI
BUT I PREFER THE 3.0 . IT HAS A SMOOTH ACCELERATION AND IS MAKING 7.1 SECONDS 0-60. GAS COMSUMPTION IS 21 MPG DRIVING @ 70 MPH.
SORRY FOR MY SPELLING. :

I had a 97 2.2 (stick) and loved it.........I would definitely go with the 2.2 for that reason alone - and the price seems much better (assuming similar mileage).

yep the mileage is 105 in the 2.2 and 97 in the 3.0. Over 2 grand in the price diff and the 2.2 has already had the timing/waterpump done (a grand at the dealer). I have driven both of them, and yeah that 3.0 will get up! but the 2.2 isnt bad coming from a 4cyl.

Fix your car and your caps lock. My J30A1 has never gotten less than 24MPG on the highway and when it's running well routinely gets 27-29 MPG. I got 30.5 once doing 90-95 the entire way. 21 is horrible :eh:

The problem with the 3.0 is a horrible tranny...If you decide on the 3.0 BE SURE to get the tranny checked before you buy it. If your gonna use it to go fast get the 2.2. Other wise you will be going through trannys like underware.

I have a 97 3.0 with almost 177,000 on it and i'll drive it into the ground and re-build it before i buy something else. My sister has a 2.2 and i just laugh at her saying she has "get up and go backwards" since her car is slow ass.

Personally, I would get the 2.2 w/ 5-speed. IMO, it would be more reliable and longer lasting in the long run. Honda manuals are some of the best in the industry.
