Major problem, i just bought a 02 3.2 TL Type-S and i was on the expressway trying to do @ least 85, and i think i floored it at only 80, also the needle points @ 7rpm but the digital gage only shows 2

Your tranny is dead because it won't shift pass 2nd gear. Is the check engine light on?

 

Damn! I knew something would be wrong, i just got the car yesterday so i guess the lemon law warranty in nyc covers this Engine and transmission problem. Nope, only SRS light is always on.

 

Please tell me you are in D .. I've read at least three stories where new drivers ( of this type of car) drive with the car in SS mode. In this one story, the owners wifey drove the car for the day and told him the car felt "really wierd while drivin", and she spent alot of gas goingto and from work...he asked he to show him exactly what she did.. she thought SS was D and she was driving to work on the freeway in 2nd gear!!

But with your dash actually lighting up there is got to be somethin' wrong..

 

TLs have a digital tach? In the navi?

 

Haha it's stuck in 2nd gear.

I've only driven one car with SS and that was a Tibby GT V6 (4spd SS) and in "D" it would not only redline higher but shift quicker. With SS mode it doesn't let you hit redline, it'll shift for you before that happens.

Really the only thing SS is good for is not acceleration but holding gears during turns and other semi-fun stuff.

 

dude, put it into D5...dont put the shifter over to the left. if you do, you gotta shift by pushing it forward. wow.

 

He'd have to be an absolute moron to do that...I bet his tranny is busted.
