I'm looking at buying a 2001 Acura TL with 88,000 miles on it. The car is emaculate in and out. The service records are impeccable and totally up to date. CarFax is clean and 1-owner. As a precaution, I'm having the timing belt and incidentals with that repair replaced.
My question is this. Are these cars a solid buy? I'm reading pros & cons regarding tranny's, etc. and am starting to second guess the purchase. The price is right at $12,500, but I don't need (or can afford) any tranny or engine issues. Any input would be greatly appreciated, as this is my first Acura possibility. Thanks in advance.

I just bought an '02 TL-S with 88,000 miles for $12,250. I thought it was a good deal and figured I'd take a chance on it and hope for the best since the tranny is warranteed up to 100K. I've only had it for just over 2 weeks and have already put 1900 miles on it. So far it's been fantastic, gas mileage has been great as I've been getting just under 30mpg. So far I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase.
Out of curiosity, why an 01 when you could probably get an 02 or 03 Type-S for a similiar price?
Don't let the tranny thing scare you away. It has a 100k warranty, and most defective trannies go before 40-50k miles. Only 2.6% of Acura TLs/CLs have tranny issues anyway.
