b18a ls/vtec tranny question

Default b18a ls/vtec tranny question

i'm gonna go ahead and get the b18a...and bolt on the b16a head to it.. question is what tranny will be compatable? i know i have a choice but what one should i get?

and B series tranny will be compatable. I would suggest a b16 or an ITR one which come with LSD

b16/itr would be ideal although your cruising rpm's are gonna be kinda high

i am running ls vtec in my coupe. i recomment itr tranny for sure b/c of the lsd. but if u dont have the money for that, get a b16 tranny out of an si.

i have a 1991 si hb ... im gonna drop in the ls vtec... i thought the tranny i have now on the d16 is a D series and wouldn't work with the ls motor?

no..D series / compatible with B series..............if you have a 91 HB then I would rec. the first gen b16a cable trans with LSD....cheap, easy to find...great

so my 91 civic tranny will not be compatible with the b16a or the b18a engine?

Nah. Each series is only compatible with their series, d to d, b to b, h to h, f to f, k to k.

But yea, the b16 is geard reallllly short. My cruising rpm is kinda high to the point where my exhaust is getting annoying.

how high are the rpm's on the freeway going 80mph... like 3500rpm or so? my si right now cruises at like 3800 going 80 or so
