Default ABS Light on & off

I have a 1996 Acura TL 2.5 and the ABS light on the dashboard keeps turning on & off everytime after I start the car or after driving for a short period of time. For instance, I would start the car I drive for about 15 - 20 minutes, then the ABS light comes on - then I get to my destination and shut off the car. Afterward, I start the car again and the light would either stays on or off and then it would come on again if it was off. I am thinking could it be a bad or dirty sensor that is causing the ABS light to come on & off. If that might be the case how do I test or find out which sensor is bad?

At the present time, I am trying to do a diagnostic test with the OBDII connector tester. There is a label beneath the steering column cover saying "Data Link serial connector for OBDII....is located on the center console behind the ashtray....". I've been searching for the connector all over and can't seem to find it. I've looked around inside and outside of the center console - but can't seem to find it.

Anyone with experience or knowledge about this, please give me some tips.

Thanks....

On my '01 CL, the OBD II connector is actually behind the ashtray - you have to pull the ashtray out (or that plastic moulding around the ashtray) to actually get to it. I assume that if you are attemtping to do this, you'll recognize the connector when you see it.

Check the actual sensor; sometimes they can become misaligned and this could cause the fault you are seeing. Dirt build-up (actually metal filings) can also cause an error if stuff gets between the sensor and the "teeth" on the hub. I've used an old toothbrush to remove the crud. Good luck!

Thanks... for the tips on the ABS. I will have to remove all four wheels and sensors and try to clean them as you suggested. As for the OBDII connector - I pulled out the ashtray and put my hand inside searching around, but still can't see or finding the darn thing. All I saw was the hand brake cable. I was thinking about removing the whole center console and maybe the connector is in there somewhere. Any other places that the connector might be?

From some data I found from google search, it says above shifter and behind ashtray. IIRC, I had to take the plastic part that actually holds the ashtray out (snaps into/out of place). The connector (looks similar to 24 pin computer cable connector) on my car was affixed to the console itself behind this panel. If your's is not there, you might be able to call an emissions testing station (if they do that in your local area) or possibly find a generic repair manual (Haynes, Chilton, etc.) at your local library. Sorry, but my manual is only for the '01 CL.
