Default Do any of you wear contacts?

I'm 26 and don't wear any contacts or glasses but my vision is getting worse by the day. I've been meaning to get an eye exam and get some contacts but wanted to know if I still am required to buy glasses? I'm very nearsighted and often have to squint just to read something thats 10ft or more away. I have no problem with things right in front of me though.

Also, what are your recommendations for good disposable and comfortable contacts? I've seen lots of ads for Hyrdraclear, are they worth getting?

I wear acuve 2's. I don't really have any probs with them. I take them out every night when I sleep. If I sleep with them in the next morning they are dry and irritating until I put in some eye drops or just blink for a while.

i just got contacts like 2 months ago, and it was a shitty for like the first few days, but after that, it was easy as pie.

before contacts, ive been wearing glasses for like 10 years, & it sucked.

and im still on the generic crap, basically i have 2 week disposible contacts, and i have a 4 month supply, and it was $80.00 for the 4 month supply.

no you are not required to buy glasses.

as for contacts, I buy whatever will give me the most number of contacts for the cheapest amount of money. basically there is no difference between the daily wear, weekly wear, or monthly wears. So usually I buy the daily wear and just clean them and wear them for 2-4weeks.

Well that's what I used to do, now I wear my glasses 95% of the time. the other 5% I wear my contacts, because wearing glasses under helmets suck ass.

i wear Focus monthlys. they have a little blue tint to them so you can see them in the storage thingy. ive been wearing contacts for about 5 years now and they are sooo much better than glasses. im also nearsighted too. for a week or so they felt weird while they were in but i quickly got used to it.

oh keep in mind, contacts will increase the chance of infections and also of getting some eye disease.

Thanks for noticing my question and answering it. The input on the types of contacts that others gave is helpful though too.

Nearsighted means you can only see stuff that's near to you, and you can't see anything beyond a certain distance.

Farsighted means you can only see stuff that's far from you, and you can't see anything at a certain distance or closer to you. When people get "reading glasses" it's because they're farsighted.

Me, I'm nearsighted, but I can't see anything from about 3 inches in front of my eyes on out. But since the range extends from a certain point and then out from there, it's nearsightedness.

Aside from having to squint to see stuff that is 10 feet or closer to you, do you have any problem seeing things at a distance? Because what you've described so far sounds like you're farsighted.
