aftermarket stereo wiring help
k guys, here's my situation. mind you, i've done tons of search, and got so many different answers, so i am more confused now. the jvc unit's (that i'm planning on installing) wiring that comes out of the unit does not have the blue power wire, and the scosche http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOHA08B wiring harness does. what do i do about this, and also, will i loose my keyless entree (2001 ex) if i just do this swap, or i do i need this harness instead : http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOHAK1B
thank you.
ps. i know that the vehicle's power wire is green/yellow, but what good is it if my receiver harness does not have the power wire output. thank you!

The colors don't always match... what is the blue wire supposed to be for on the Scosche harness?
It appears as though Honda got away from running other electonics through the stock radio in 1999 model year. If you owned a 1998 Civic you'd need a radio relocation kit to keep some features like keyless entry, etc. It looks as though you DO NOT need this with a 2001.
I owned a 1997 Civic without keyless entry. I had to buy a special harness to allow me to hook up an aftermarket headunit and still have the interior light in my roof panel work when I opened the doors.

Tap into the power antenna line. The blue wire is just to tell the amp that the radio is on. The down side to this is that your amp will always be on when your radio is on, but this seems to be the only option.

it's not a huge deal, but having a on / off to the amp can be useful at times.

on most stock radios, there isn't a "remote / amp" wire, so an antenna, power antenna, automatic antenna is used in place of the "remote / amp" wire.
but, it sounds like you found what you're looking for.
sorry for confusing, but i do have the "remote/amp" wire on my aftermarket radio, which i will be connecting to the remote amplifier wire. there's actually a label on that wire saying: "please connect this wire to the remote for the amplifier, equalizerand/or auto antenna...and that's where i had the question if it was ok to splice in my power antenna wire from my harness into the remote wire which will be going to my amp...
