Nope.

Every time I'm at an intersection, I'll just look around and say "Man I'm glad I got THIS car!" It's great to have a rare, quality, performance machine. I had some expensive repairs with the timing belt and water pump, but other than that and normall stuff, all is well! A prelude is a great choice for a semi-practical sporty car.

EDIT: A big problem will be the 5th gen SS tranny thing. Just get a stick

not at all. Ever since i got my prelude ive gotten so many comments about it, expecially about the 4WS. Ill never get rid of my lude unless it gets totalled ::knocks on wooden desk:: no major problems with my lude, just normal stuff. Believe me, u'll be satisfied when you purchase a prelude.

yeah make sure you change the timing belt its not a free wheeling motor. you will bend valves if it snaps 80-90,000 miles is like the latest to change it. i got one where the people didn't change it and when i shifted during racin it snaped.

Some people have issues with burning oil on 5TH gens, Im one of them, Its not really a problem just a nusiance. From what Ive researched on the topic its somewhat normal and some think of it as healthy. Other then that I LOVE the car. It handles great, pulls really strong, and its not common. Heh, today I told my supervisor that the car had 190 hp (at the crank) and he asked "Its a 4 cyl?" I just smiled and said "yep" . It took him a while to comprehend it but I dono, it somewhat made my day. I love it. Ohh and if you drive the car Spirited the gas milage will suffer but, its sooooo much fun. I never thought about getting one but, as soon as I drove mine I had to have it. Its a great car to own.

I agree with everything he said.

All Preludes run fairly rich therefore they burn oil faster, so just make sure to check it often.

mmmm, makes me want that car so much more...my brother's got a 97 prelude and he had to change the timing belt on his, so now i know why. but that isnt enough to change my mind. I allready know about the power, he gave me a ride in it when he came home and i loved it from then on. Everyone in town loved it too, u very rarely see one of those where i live. thanks for the comments guys

Complaints? Well, Preludes are not the end all to automotive technology. I doubt many people here actually push their cars to 99%, if you think you want to do that, then:

First, its a FWD car, which means it understeers when pushed hard into a corner. Understeer kills fun. FWD is NOT for Drag racing. Weight transfer under acceleration lifts the front of the car...no bueno.

Second the 65/35 weight balance does nothing to remedy the understeer and actually, if/when you lift off the throttle or brake in a turn, be prepared for a spin.

Third, each generation has its own laundry list of annoying IE, 5th gen engine (H22A4) seems to burn oil at a rate of approx 1 qt/3000 miles, more if you love VTEC yO. If you get the Sportshift model...you're doomed. 4th gens dash, and the reflection in the windshield, the 93 VTEC was the lightest and is the fastest stock Lude, but they are rare, and develope "Honda" rust spots on the fenders later in life.

I could go on. The good news is that they are still relatively current looking, and common (I dunno where the rest of you live) that means that a decent one can be found relatively cheaply....

Complaints?? not really, my 4th gen is so much fun to drive oh boy .. i bought this 98 Accord V6 2dr with 40K miles to drive work and to "show" my co-workers (must of them older than me driving BMW's and stuff LOL) that i'm a mature person LOL but now i'm kinda sad because i'm driving the lude more than anything (during week and weekends) LOL ... and even the Accord is very nice .. it feels like is toooo big LOL while my 4th gen is low (not lowered) quick, agile ... and the list go on and on ... UPS! one compalint ... ricers ... oh boy the love to tease me ,,, LOL . seams like they love to provoque me .. and to be honest lots of new "sporty" cars look dated while only the tailights of the 4th gen lude look "dated" .. i just love my lude LOL ... next year i'll sell the accord and get a S2K ,,, still will keep my beloved Prelude (maybe forever LOL ... i can see my lude in 25/30 years like a great classic)
