Default Problems with Civic SI/RSX Type S

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with their Civic SI 03?

When i bought the car within a week i had a funny squeak sound when i was turning the wheel and accelerating. They kept the car over night and said they couldn't find what was making it so they took the off all the parts it could be and lubricated them. Next week my AC blew up. It took them a month to get in all parts for that. I then hit something in the road that really did some damage. My insurance paid for it but again i had to wait a month for parts. Now over a year latter the sound came back. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the power steering unit but that didn't fix it, so they ordered a steering strut. They said like always it will be here monday and it ended up being 2 months. That fixed the squeak all right but now i hear a kind of grinding sound when i turn left. I think it is the power steering unit as it makes that high pitched whine right before the grinding sound.

So tell me do i just have back luck or what?

I am thinking of getting rid of my SI and originally i was thinking of getting a RSX Type S. The dealer will give me $16500 for my trade in and put me in one for $24k. But before i do that i was wanting to hear if you RSX Type S owners have had any problems with your cars?

If i don't get a RSX i will end up getting a Mazda RX-8(they have a free tires for life as long as you get you recommended service done by them) or the Nissan 350z Coupe or the VW GTI VR6 or if i can afford it the Subaru WRX STi.

I wpould get the RSX -S,STI or EVO.If I'm correct everything else except the Type S will be in the 30's. I definately wouldn't keep dealing with those problems. Also, the Type S you could stay all motor.

i luv my rsx types but i always want more... iam a speed addict, but i know its already a good amount. Iam not gonna stay all motor cuz induction is so much fun !
i honestly would take more pride adding a turbo or charger onto my car then having one from the factory. Plus they tend to be more expensive

oh and as far as problems... what year were you going to get?
the 2002-2004 (certain VINs) have gear syncro problems. But all you have to do is take it to the dealership and they fix it for free...
iam getting a whole new tranny cuz i work for acura and my coworkers are nice like that

they have more power then the later models so theres a plus right there.
plus if you wanna get sponsored you'll get noticed more, there havent been too many 2005's with big sponsors yet so your odds go up substantially.
they also have a little bit better handling.

yea... i love my RSX type-S, but i'm not gonna lie, it has a few probs, mostly electrical... when i first got the car (03 RSX-s w/ 12K miles, bought 2/2005) the front right daylight running light was out, not still half the time when i use the power doors unlock it wont work, and the auto window wont go all the way up from bottom unless i hold if for like 10 secs, otherwise it goes up like 3 inches then comes right back down. Oh, and half the time i put it in 3rd the gears grind but that could just be the old owner being rough on the clutch

if your within your warranty period (which is 50k or 4 years, whichever first) all of those problems are sopposed to be fixed for free.
here are the problems that i see on a regular basis with the rsx's (excluding the 05's)
1. window regulator replacement
2. gear syncros
3. other minor electrical

the good thing is that these repairs wont cost you a dime unless you void your warranty.
Overall, it is a well built car. Look at it this way- at least you get a new tranny for free! haha

I am putting rims on my 02 civic si, what profile of the tires should I get? I'm thinking 18" but the 17' will also look good and they are cheaper. Should I go with the chepest or do you think I should put the 18"??
