Default Ignition wires 5th gen

i have a 5th gen lude. i bought a set of accell ignition wires. when i installed the wires the car was spitting and popping on decel, and the wires smelled like they were burning. i removed the wires, and the car runs fine with my stock wires. i can't send the wires back but they might be warrantied. the resistance in the wire is good, and they are not arcing. has anybody else had this problem.

Are they the right wires for the car?

Did you install them correctly?

Are the cheap crap?

These are questions you need to answer.

As a long time user of both Accel and NGK products-the wires are not 'crap'. If you got a bad set, take them back. There is no reason for the change in performance from stock that you describe. That is unless they were installed wrong or something is wrong with them.

hmm, used NGK wires and they work excellent, my only guess is that you may have installed the distributer ends incorrectly or they are the wrong wires for your car. But since you said you put the stock wires back on and they work fine the latter reason my be true either that or they were damaged from the factory. Reinstall them one more time and if it persists then send them back on manufacturer warranty.

well it turns out that i exchangethe accel wires for msd wires and the car runs great. if anybody owns a 5th gen lude i would not reccomend buying accel wires, unless you feel like replacing exhaust parts from the backfiring.
