97 2.5 TL Exhaust Manfiold $$$$$?
Hi All,
My mom got some bas news today regarding her 1997 2.5 TL. Apparently the exhaust manifold needs to be replaced. The car was produced and assembled in Japan to meet CA emissions standards and thus the CAT is housed in the same part.
The quote is about $1100 for the part itself.
h:
Does anyone have any experience with this repair? This seems really high to me and while I dont doubt that the mechanic is honest, I do question wether we need to go 100% OEM with this apparent atypical part.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Did the mechanic tell you what was wrong with the manifold? Was it cracked? If it was cracked, there's basically no way to fix it except to replace it. Also, I doubt you could find an exhaust manifold for your Mom's car except from Acura. One way to find it cheaper yourself is to get the actual part number and start looking on the web.

Thanks for the response.
The mechanic is telling her that this is an exotic part that can be difficult to find. I am trying to find the part number, any suggestions on good places to get parts online? I am not very well versed in honda/acura circles.
Would you check the junkyard for something like this?
Thanks again for your help.

Junk yard is a good place to look. Did the mechanic say why the exhaust manifold needs to be replaced?
