98 Honda Accord ex Check engine light
I have a check engine light on my car. I took it to get decoded and it didn't give me a reason on why or what the engine code was. I have the code number. Its P1491 i was wonder if anyone could decode it for me so i can get my car inspected thank you
P1491 = EGR valve insufficient lift.
The EGR valve is a round thing at the intake manifold. Maybe you can check it's wiring, look for something simple. Otherwise, are you gonna take it to a shop or work on it yourself? I'll try & remember to look in my Helm book tonight. Maybe you're supposed to take it off & clean it or something...
V-6 or 4-cylinder?

V-6 or 4-cylinder?
engine light keeps coming on. i got a 00 accord lx 4cyl . cold air intake, dc headers, exhaust. took my car to honda several times and they cant figure out what is going on. replaced o2 censor each time, reset computer, also replaced thermostat. but everytime i hit the freeway. engine light turns on.
could it be they headers ?
could it be they headers ?
Snydog, the Helm book (for P1491) has about 5 pages of checking to rule out broken wiring, then you replace the EGR valve. V-6 probably has some differences, my book is for I-4.
Bernied, what error code? How can a dealer be unable to read the error code? Take it to AutoZone to read the code?
