Default 05 TL Stereo

I test drove an 05 TL 6 speed the other day. After reading all of the hype and reviews on the stereo I have to say I was not impressed with it. The sub didn`t have any deep bass, there were no crisp highs coming from the tweeters. The stereo just sounded flat, it did not even compare to the Bose system in my 99 Maxima. How could this stereo that is supposed to be in the top 10 of factory systems sound so blah? Do you thing there was something wrong with the system?

You have to realize that car stereo sound is very subjective. I know because I used to compete in IASCA for many years. What sounds good to Acura might not sound good to you.

AcuraTL, I`m not talking about what Acura says about the stereo, I`m talking about what all of the reviewers have said about it. I thought it should sound at least as good as my Bose system.

My point is what did not sound good to you might sound good to others because stereo sound is very subjective.

I`m not arguing with you, just trying to explain my point. It`s a fact, not an opinion that this stereo did not have any deep bass or clean highs that you hear in any system with a small sub and separates in the front.

I don't think you can really call it a fact as it was based on your opinion and experience. You might find it lackign deep bass and crisp highs, but to another person might be enough bass and highs. Just remember, a nice sounding system has to be balance, not too much high and not too much bass. You can call it a fact if all the new TL owners agree with you.

As I posted elsewhere here, my 04 system sounds great.. Did you have time to adjust the system to your preferances,, or even check to see how the dealer had it set? I know when I bought mine, they had the balance and fade set funny and it made the system sound tinny. Once I adjusted it to what I like I was very impressed.

I share your impression of the sound quality. I have a 2004 TL and have optimized the bass, treble, sub-woofer levels but the sound quality is not as vivid and rich as I've heard in my friends '98 Saturn with premium sound. Also, the max volume level is not what one would expect in a sports car. The sound quality is "good" but not "great".
