okay,i just puchased a skunk2 reprogrammed and chipped p13ecu for an h22a.it says it changes the rev limit to 9600 rpms.the sir cluster goes up to 8000,what point can i shift at without screwing my car up????also says dual vtec engagement???
You waste gas and performance will decrease. You also have a chance of washing out your rings if you run too rich and then your rings won't seal properly.
isnt that why they change the air fuel ratio? heres the specs: advanced timing/9600 rpm rev limit/upgraded air fuel ratio/dual vtec engagement 4600rmps,5800 rpms/no speed limiter/
Upgraded for what? You have a stock car. Unless you have some sort of built, high compression N/A motor or forced induction, you don't need the extra fuel that chip provides. If you had a reason for a chip, you wouldn't get one of those preburned chips either. You need one specifically burned for your setup so it can run optimal fuel ratios and timing advance/retard.
so should i just keep the stock jdm p13? if i use the skunk2 could i still get a vafc and play around with it? whats best,my mods are:header, underdrive crank, underdrive power steering/alt,high flow cat,cat back exaust, cold air intake with ram air hose extension, aem cam gears, short shifter.the engine and mods are all going in at one time when the engine gets here from cali.what kind of hp/tq can i expect from these mds?thanks for all the good answers
yes the stock ecu would be better for you at this point than that skunk2. until you have internals that really let the engine breath, you dont need the extra fuel and timing of the skunk2.
