yeah, ive got a 2002 civic lx and i cannot get the headunit out to install a cd player, i've gotten the top partially out but the rest wont come out, and i read somewhere to take out the area that has the cigarette lighter, but on this model it doesnt have space to grab it to take it out. help

 

it's easy, but i would have to be there to show you. Go to or call a best buy and they will help you out.

 

but how much would best buy run me to do that, cuz i got subs coming and an amp waiting at my house, should i wait a few days until the subs get in and do it all at once? i heard best buy gets pretty expensive

 

once you get the head unit out and put the new one in, you can take the radio out in 30 sec with the "keys" that come with the radio. You will need to take it back out after you get ready to put the subs in because you need to run the rca wires and the amp info wire (blue wire that tells the amp tcome on when the keys in the ignition, wich is wired in to the radio harness.)

BTW you do have the dash harness and instal/trim kit right?

 

yeah, i got everything i need to install it, i just cant get the head unit out of the car to put in the new radio in the first place, oh, and i just got that gauge bezel in, thanks for the advice.

 

how did you do it? What was stopping you from getting it out?

 

not sure, went in, started pullin like i did before, started to get angry and pulled harder more towards the sides than the top and i heard a crack and it came off, i think i broke one of the clips but its ok, it went back in fine

 

so you got any ideas on how to get the head unit out, i called best buy and they said i would have to come in, they said that no one could help me over the phone

alright, i understand what to do to get the stuff out, but how to u get out the part where the cigarette lighter is, i cant grab onto anything, theres nothing there to grab.
