Are all b16a2 noisy?(small ticking)

Default Are all b16a2 noisy?(small ticking)

i need some comfort......i just dropped in a jdm b16a2 in my del sol......and it is a lot noiser then the sohc.....it has a small constant ticking sound coming from the head.......is this engine common for doing that?....the engine has 25k -30k on it. its really clean too!

they are more noisy than a single cam but the ticking might just mean that your valves need to be adjusted....

yeah there a marks from someone else adjusting them with a socket are there but my buddy has a teg and a prelude with b20 and those are both pretty noisy....if i go a long time without a valve adjustment will it hurt the engine? say a month or two?

i wouldnt suggest it but its a honda dude the thing can run on 2 cylinders and it'll still keep going but ya try to get it fixed asap by a certified mechanic at a honda dealership or something.

It will also accelerate the wear of the rocker arms if the valve lash isn't adjusted to spec.

crazy im thinkin of the same motor for my 91ls cuz that motor has 200k and is about to die what u pay and where u get it from

Mine is a lot noisier, sounds a lot better too, like a motorcycle almost. The SOHC was wheezy at best.

i got it from jdm depot in new jersey ......i pulled the head off and the internals look brand new not a spec of carbon on the thing.....im thinking it has 5-25 k on it but im going to check the valves in case they needed to be adjusted

Could also be the fuel injectors, my B18C sounds similiar and I was told it was probably the injectors. which is apperantly normal, B18C are known for having noisy injectors. hopes this helps.
