Default project ghetto d this summer

well, a friend and i decided to go ghetto this summer. were gonna run 15psi on a d15 non vtec.right now were hunting for a blown crx or early civic that atleast has fuel injection. so heres the plan. were gonna get the block and have it honed, i have a friend whos a machinist so he can help us with all that for cheap. then, instead of sleeving, were gonna make our own with liquid aluminum then drill holes for the coolant. next well get some ls rods and have them machined to our liking and have them shot peened. next are some vitara pistons, good for 15-20 psi. we will probably have the crank micropolished and checked out to be sure. one of the more expensive things will be new bearings, gaskets etc, but well work that out when it comes. for fuel, well probably run dsm 450's with a resistor box and use uberdata. we'll use the hf manifold welded to a 14b flange and find a 14b at a local junkyard or online, ive seenthem go for about $80. i have spare ic piping laying around from doing my current turbo project. i can also pick up two dsm bovs for about 50 bux, twin bovs sounds cool, and beter then compressor surge. for the intercooler were thinking maybe a dsm SMIC with homemade water injection, or possibly just a starion intercoler. some things we havent worked out yet, but thats what we have planned for the basics. should be a fun lil project this summer. we hope to spend less then 1500 all together, wich is quite possible, granted we find the car we need. once it gets started, ill make a big writeup for all the ghettoness

hmmm... I had never thought of that... turn a resevoir tank into a "bong" so the air passes through water. Interesting. Sounds like it would be a little too much fabrication for me to bother with though.

no. you hook up winshield washer squirters so that it shoots onto your intercooler or you could have it spray into your charge pipes, but if u do that, you have to make sure you dont use to much or BAD things will happen

oh. Yeah, I guess a bong-like intake might be too strong at higher speeds and you might end up sucking in the water. So you gotta hold down the spuirter button when you are running? Or do you rig it to a on/off switch?

Do not use your squirters in your intake pipe.

Isn't the 14b going to kinda be out of it's efficiency at 15PSI?

i know a few guys that ran well in excess of 15 psi on their 1st gen dsm's with 14b's and 1 friend with a 2nd gen dsm had a ported 14b @ 23 psi. he should be okay.
