Default Help with alternator change

I posted this in the Civic forum but due to the urgency im postin in the basement as well...

Ok guys so im driving to work today and all of a sudden my subs cut out and then my radio starts going haywire and all my dash stuff like mph and rpm's start going haywire....

I pull over and cut the car off...i then make sure everything is straight under the hood...I get back in the car to cut it on and the car doesnt start up..

So after 10 minutes the car cuts on again...i drive to work and everything seems fine...

I get to work and pop the hood and take the negative end of the battery off and the car just shuts off...

A)Does this mean my alternator is shot.

B)If so is it easy to put a new one in for a 92 civic LX sedan

C)Can anyone help me as to a DIY on how to replace it...Im at work and its not moving from there right now and i need to get this replaced before the end of the day....any help A.S.A.P will be great.

sounds like the alternator to me but you will know for sure if your battery light comes on h:

and if you have to buy a new alternator, make sure you get it for a civic EX, they might be different

Sounds like the altenator. Same thing happened BOTH times mine went out It's a pain in the ass because of where it's located, but we changed mine in a parking lot of a shopping center in 20 degree weather. You can do it

We did it from above and underneath. h: One guy was under the car pushing up, and the other and I were above pulling it out. We didnt have a jack or anything so we had to work with what we had. Mine was actually easier to take out from the top, less things in the way.

i just got back from picking up a battery.....turned the key and VROOM!!!

Now is there a way to test to see if it was the battery or the alternator?

Not a pro at this but it is my understanding that the car will die after a while if it's the alternator as the Batt is being recharged.
