Default Is this a hi-flow cat...or...???

I just purchased this and installed it last night

http://www.meganracing.com/products....asp?prodid=151

Megan Hi flow cat/down pipe/test pipe. What is the proper term for this? Megan calls it a hi flow cat, and a test pipe, and a down pipe...lol. Just wondering what it really is.

Was it a mistake to put it on. It makes my car loud as hell, my CEL came on which I'll take care of tonight. But everyone says it would make me lose power because I'd lose backpressure. Will this pipe really make me lose backpressure? I think when I was asking about test pipes before everyone thought I meant just a straight pipe....

test pipe or high flow cat the answer is yes, you lose low end power due to no backpressure. if you hav an obd2 car you'll throw cel's due to no cat and many say that you'll burn oil again due to no backpressure...

btw, link doesn't work

link doesn't work, but does it have honeycomb inside it or is it just hollow?
High flow cat= the same as a stock cat but it flows better. It still performs the function that it's intended to do.
test pipe =(sometimes called a exhaust cut-out) just that, it for racing applications, reroutes your exhaust gasses so they dump into the atmosphere shortly after leaving the header or downpipe.
Downpipe = the pipe found on the output of the turbo that connects to the cat.
Some sell resinators as "high flow cats", they arn't cats they are resinators.

The one on theor site is actually a resinator.
It looks to have no honeycomb like cats have. It's a strait through design (hollow) with perferated edges inside (like a muffler). It's not legal for the street, and it's NOT a cat, it's just a resinator. I think that add the "cat" part to get more people to buy it and to get people to pay more for a resinator.

Just the sound of the car after the install should be enough to rip it right off...

You cannot take care of the CEL because there is no cat. The engine will run in limp mode since it is triggered. I would remove that illegal garbage from your car ASAP since there is probably a noticable loss of power on a stock car and it creates unnecessary pollution.
