Default DIY 95 accord. clean out your dirty A$$ window switches (picz)

most people think a window switch has gone bad just because the window wont roll up anymore when you tap the switch. in most cases a simple cleaning will do the trick (rather than having to go and buy a new master switch for 50 bucks on ebay!). in this diy i did it on the master switch on my 1995 honda accord ex 4 door.
disclaimer: i am not responsible for anything that happens to your car if you try this.

1. first screw out the screw thats inside the lil coin holder thing.

2. pry out the master switch from the side making sure you dont snap it in half (this is kinda tricky)

3. disconnect the green switch.(used for power mirrors)

4. disconnect the grey switch.(used for the power locks and windows) and the brown switch thats right above it.

5. after you have done that the master switch should be out without any wires attached to it. now turn the master switch around and there are 3 screws to take out.

6. after you do that the whole switch system should come out and should look like this

7. now remove the little black switch caps (there are 4 of them for 4 windows). you can pry them out with a flat head screw driver. have patience! this is also a lil tricky

8. now that that the switch caps have been removed you can remove the black rubber piece.

9. now that everything thing is exposed you can remove the lil white switch using a small flat head screw driver.

10. once that is done you will see the inside of the switch. you can see that all the dirt has built up and cloged the connection from making contact. (this sorta works like the post of the battery when all the crust has built up and keeps your car from starting) well this is what kept your window from rolling up or down. get a small flat head screw driver and start scraping away the dirt from the metal.(make sure its cleaned out good)

11. inside are 2 little "v" shape pins, take them out and clean them out as well

12. after you clean out everything and scrape it up so it can make a connection, your all done. reverse the process to finish the job...everything should be working fine after this. (remember that i only did this for one of the switches. there are 4 of them. you can do this to all 4 if you would like or just do the one that is not working. this is my first diy and i hope it helps yall out a lil bit. sorry about the pics, i used the camera phone since i dont have the real digital camera. well good luck and have fun!!!

well thats about it...PEACE!!!

Default Thank you

Cleaned the power window switches as you described and with only one slightly broken piece of plastic, all the windows now work. thanks
