My buddy bought a mini a year or so ago and had it shipped from New Zealand in a container. I had a grassroot motorsports magazine with an article about doing B-series swaps into Mini's and he considered it but I think he just drives the damn thing. The stock motor is tiny and the transmission is actually under the engine, neat design.

There is a company that sells them now. There was a whole write up in Car and Driver, they said they were insanely quick and wouldn't stop burning tire and they used a B18C5.
