Default Please Help A Newbie With An Air Intake Problem

hi
Please help its driving me nuts.i will try and explain the problem the best i can but i am a newbie so bare with me on this.i have a 99 type r now when i am half way downish on the gas i am getting a loud squel from the air intake.so i thought ok ill put an induction kit on to give it more air.didnt solve it infact it got louder.so i ran it without an air filter just to see if it stopped but alas it was there so i dont think its a filter problem.have any of you wise techies got any clues on how to stop this darn annoying squeal???.i would be most greatful for any help,,,,grovel,,,,grovel

hello
yes i am pretty sure,i have tried everything i could think of to discover the problem.i am sure thats where its coming from.its very bizzare ,you could discribe the sound as being like brake squeal.!!!!!.i tried diffrent lengths of induction piping aswell but didnt make a diffrence.it seems worse when u let the engine breath easyier,,i.e going from the stock air box to a mugen induction filter.any help?????

Is it like a whistling noise? Aftermarket intakes are notorious for that.

i would say its a squeal rather than a whistle but i am getting the same problem with the stock air box but it isnt as loud,,propably cos the filter is boxed,i have checked for any air leaks around the throttle body and intake manifold but nothing,,can you think of anything else i could try????

are you loosing any power when the squeeling starts, this might be a little too obvious but have you thought of a belt being loose?

hello were trying to help you!!!!!!!!!

Maybe your describing it wrong or using the wrong words the first thing I think of when someone says there is squealing coming under the hood is a loose belt.
