Default door panels removal 03 civic

My driver side front door lock won't go all the way down, or all the way up for that matter, when the door is open. No problem when it's shut. Went prying and cant get the panel off to look at it. Can anyone help?

i believe that is normal. many hondas do that. don't worry about it, as long as the drivers door locks when it is shut, it is normal. btw, don't you still have warranty?

Can it be a "security feature" on the honda? I was told that it may not lock the driver side door so you dont happen to lock your keys in the car. Would there be anyway to over ride this?

ya, you can override this. i have never done this but i suggest its best to leave it alone. i don't see why it would be necessary to remove this feature. if it really bothers you not being able to lock, then shut the drivers door, just get a keyless entry system installed. even a do it your self one, where all you need to do it just solder the wires in(best way) or crimp, its real simple. if you are going to do just a keyless(no alarm) it should only be about 6 wires(ground, 12v constant, 12v switched, parking lights, unlock wire, lock wire).

To get around this just hold the handle open (inside) as you hit the lock button.

It bugged the heck out of me for awhile until I realized what it was doing.
