Default Well, it's off...:crossedfingers:

Just submitted my transfer application to SDSU's Journalism program, for Fall 05.

I've got all the IGETC Requirements met, and all of the special requirements for entry into their Journalism program will be satisifed by the end of Spring 05.
My transfer and academic GPA are well above their requirements, so thing ought to go well. Between now and Jan 15th, I've got a personal statement and two letters of recommendation to compile and submit. :eek3:

So I'm cautiously optimistic about the whole thing.

Just thought I'd share. h:

What exactly is the personal statement? I have to write one when I transfer to UB.

Good question.....

I have about 6 weeks to find out. :chuckles:

From what I've heard, it's a little essay that is supposed to give the admissions board some perspective on you as a person. It's supposed to be rather short... certainly not a 25 page bio (thank God.)

Yes, it sounds tedious and subjective. h: Which is why I'm gonna start drafting mine very soon*.

*Right after I finish my 8500+ word paper on post-war Afghanistan and the growth of Islamic Extremism.
And after the last issue of the paper goes to print.
And after I finish prepping for my college algebra final.
Ack.

Fairly high, but they favor freshmen coming in from the local highschools more than transfers.

The journalism major is particularly popular at SDSU, due to high job placement rates. In order to mitigate this flood of transfer applicants, they pile on additional classes that must be completed for acceptance into the Journalism program.

These include Political Science, Humanities and obviously, Journalism classes that are intended to weed out those who aren't completely committed to the profession (I guess). These classes are what kept me up here in Marin County for the last year.

But OTOH, as a product of taking these classes, I'll be graduating from the College of Marin with two Associate degrees... an AS in Social Science and and AA in Humanities. So those will fill out my resumč nicely. h: (They oughta count for something.)

So, onward and upward.
Thank you to everyone for your support. I appreciate it.

This is not necessarily true. It is VERY hard to get into SDSU now as a freshman, because they get over 30,000 applications per year...obviously they can't take that many. It's easier to transfer in as a junior.
