Good news, the 97 Civic you want is good, it had 81k miles as of late November, the carfax says that there are no accidents, average yearly usage was 10,669 miles per year. The car had 3 owners in PA. NJ, and back in PA. (personal observation: 7 winters in the NE could mean rust, check that out). Sight unseen, it appears to be a good buy..good luck.

Good news, the car has had no accidents, or problems however it has high miles. Last reported millage was in Nov/02 and it had almost 148k miles. The car has had 5 owners since new and all of them are in the Seattle-Everett-Lynwoood area. The first entry for the car is 12/09/93. It would seem that the part of the minor accident is plausible, but 5 owners in 11 years seems a bit much. If you got it really cheap and runs ok, no problem, but a Honda having that many owners raises at least a pink if not an outright red flag.
