Has anyone here paid for a credit report in the past?
Was it worth it? I'm kind of curious to see what my credit score is and such but I don't even really know what these reports contain. As I understand it, Californians are supposed to get one report free in 2005? I'm feeling impatient.

You are already entitled to a free credit report every year. I think it is like 3 a year. However they dont contain information like a FICO score. I use Equifax to get my report and FICO score. I pay like $15 and do it twice a year mainly because I am curious. It shows:
-Personal Info
-Credit Summary
-Account Info
-Inquiries
-Colelctions
-Public Record
-FICO Score.
And for each account, it goes into how much is owed, date opened, account status....pretty informative

you know you lose points every time you get your credit checked...like for every application for a credit card, everytime u have a credit check done for a phone or to buy a car or you get your credit checked just for shits and giggles...be careful of how many times you get your credit checked and dont let anyone check it unless your 100% sure that your going to buy from them or get whatever credit card it is right then and there
i just paid for mine too, i think it was worth it, the FICO score by it self was good enought for me. But it also gave me what i should do in order to get my credit score even higher, an not bullshit stuff like pay of your credit card, but stuff like diversify them instead... very much worth it.
and I think that when you ask for your own credit repport it doesnt really counts as a credit check.

I thought it was 850 but I was told by someone else that it's now 950. Which one is correct?
