I lost my sol to night....temporarily...
Well, in short, it broke
Is this just coincidence?
Here is what happened: During the Black friday sales i purchased a clarion mp3 stereo for my del sol. I did a quick install in the parking lot while i was waiting for my friends to come out. On the drive home I thought i saw my battery warning light come on. Yesterday it was commin on randomly. And today it was on most of the time as i was doing delivery. Befored I headed to work I did a professional install of my stereo including soldering the wires that I twisted together just to make sure nothing was loose. while driving i shook the car and it didnt seem to have any influence on the battery light. But when i reved it around 4k+ rpm the light went off (no light) then as the rpms came back down the light came back on. It seemed pretty random. Well after hours of a random light and after the son had gone
I noticed my headlights pretty dim. Finally it just died. So i figure my alternator is dead. And wonder if my stereo install had anything to do with it or its just chance that I started noticing it after the stereo. I also made triple sure no wires during install are shorting or grounding anywhere they shouldnt be.

How much of a stereo are you running or is it just a new headunit? If you're running an amp that's controlled by the radio's remote wire and for some reason the amp's never shutting down, that could cause problems.

only put a stereo....no amp or anything other than factory speakers. Simply traded the tape deck for a mp3 player.
