Default Valve Adjustment required @150k?

I got this coupon earlier this year from a near by Acura dealer; $399.95 for a 30k service. I wanted to get this work done at dealer so I called four dealers in my area and everyone quoted me $500-600. I asked the dealer with the $399.95 coupon why it's $550 for a '94 Integ RS. She said, well we recommend you get your valves adjusted. It's not necessary every 2 years for all models, i.e. MDX.

So naturally, question is for a stock Integ RS do I really need this valve adjustment now? Or is she blowing smoke up (u know where). $150 is pretty steep unless I really need it. If it makes any difference, I can hear the valves going from inside the car at low idle, but not above ~1,500 RPM.

If they're recommending a valve adjustment without having taken a look under the hood then yes, they are just blowing smoke up your a$$ and out your wallet.

What else are they going to do for $400 for the 30k service? I personally think that many of these scheduled maintenences are a waste of money. Many of the parts can be inspected with relatively little trouble and they can use that inspection to determine what REALLY needs to be done as opposed to what is scheduled to be done.

The big exception to this is your timing belt/water pump job. Do you know when that was last replaced?

My '95 owner's manual says to adjust valve lash & timing belt tension every 30k miles. So... did you have it done at 120k??
