B18C5 -> 94 Civic Coupe: Does an aftermarket exhaust for the Civic work or....?
Hello All :
Question:
If I am doing a B18C5 -> 94 Civic swap. Will an aftermarket exhaust for the Civic match right up with the B18C5 manifold exhaust pipe? Or do I need a custom pipe?
gracias?

It will eventually work but will not simply bolt together. Your forced to use the Integra cat as the B-series exhaust flange is angled differently (Bseries - /, Dseries - \). You can cut the flange off the D-series cat and reweld it to the proper orientation or just use the B-series cat. Here's a picture of the cat I used on my '92 CX/'95 B18C1 swap.

Your's won't have the hole on the left side (the GS-R exhaust manifold puts the O2 sensor in the cat before the actual catalyist material, I think all other B-series manifolds just have longer exhaust downpipes and shorter cats) and you can see in the pictures the extension I had a local muffler shop make me that allowed everything to bolt up. It only cost me about $30 and I just used some wire to tie everything up and drove the car open header (well, open cat) straight to the place and got it fixed. You may have a different lenght gap to fix as the different B-series manifolds tend to terminate in different locations. I had a testpipe / straight pipe fabricated before but it really affected the sound of the exhaust (real high pitched and whinney) so I went back to the cat.

Do they make aftermarket highflow cats? I don't have an issue with emissions here but make sure whereever you are, using one will pass testing and won't get you in trouble if your pulled over. When I bought my 240SX in NY, the guy I bought it from said that if your pulled over with no cat, it's an automatic $2,000 fine. Just something to be careful about.

Andy, sorry for the late reply, here is the info I got from Dave, I assume it's Dave you were asking about , whether they made high flow systems?
I currently don't offer a true bolt on exhaust system, however I do offer
(2) 2-1/2" cat back exhaust kits.* The kit below for $255 offers the tunnel
hanger pre welded, and the 3 bolt flange tig welded.* The hangers for the
rear muffler and gas tank area still require welding.* There are other
companies that offer a pre welded hanger/flange kit but the customer should
verify that these systems offer a welded 3 bolt flange or if the 3 bolt
flange is floating, has the B pipe reduced in size for the floating flange.
2-1/2" stainless tubing kit (loose) $205
3" stainless tubing kit (loose) $230
2-1/2" stainless tubing kit (w/ 2 hangers and 1 tig welded flange) $255
(stock layout)
2-1/2" stainless tubing kit (1 tig welded flange) $245 (for use with SMSP
headers)
Then pick 1 of the following resonators
14" aluminized resonator $50
18" aluminized resonator $55
22" aluminized resonator $60
14" stainless resonator $60,* Magnaflow p/n 14416
Then pick one of the following mufflers
6" Round Ti $195, please see
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...162c13058ecf63
91/f7c72834.jpg
4x9 oval, 5x8 oval, or 6" round* aluminized muffler $70
6" Round Stainless $80, Magnaflow p/n 14616
7" Round Stainless $85, Magnaflow p/n 14716
5x8 stainless muffler $90, Magnaflow p/n 14216
5x8 stainless muffler with 4" dia x 7" tip $125, Magnaflow p/n 14851
Muffler hangers mild steel $2.50 each
Muffler hangers stainless steel $5 each
3-1/2" Polished Stainless Tip $25

Sorry, don't know any Dave, I'm not really sure what your talking about. It sounds like from your post your planning to construct and weld your own exhaust for your car. In that case, you should alright with the parts listed above and you can probably just build the system to bolt right to the cat whereever it ends up. My picture and explanation were for if you were using an existing aftermarket catback for your car. If you don't have a lot of fabrication and welding experience, I would suggest just going with a standard aftermarket catback system for your year and model of Civic and simply modify that to fit the new cat or have an adaptor piece like I had made to make it all work.
