Redline ATF: Will it damage my 5spd tranny?
Hi all,
ok, I bought Redline Perfomance ATF thinking I was gonna get a bimmer but at the last moment, I changed my mind and bought a 98 integra RS with a GS-R engine.
My question is, although it clearly says it's for both auto and manual,
can I really put this ATF in my 5spd tranny?
I'm not sure what kind of a tranny my car has,
probably RS stock but if it doesn't fit GSR motor then possibly a GSR tranny.
It seems pretty common for bimmer guys to put ATF
in their manual tranny as you can see in this article.

I'm guessing if it can be done to a bimmer, the same principle should be applicable to an integra. or am i wrong?

Hmm...if ATF could go into manual transmissions, then why not just make "transmission fluid" and not MTF & ATF.
go down to Honda and get 3 qts (although only 2.3qt will be used) to put into your manual tranny.

But it seems like a lot of people have/have had good experience with Redline performance lubricants.
I might as well just put it in and see how the car drives.
If I don't like it, I can always drain it and put genuine Honda MTF
or whatever people recommend.

I wouldn't chance it. Transmissions are expensive. GO with the MTF and don't take chances because being cheap now could mean a whole lot of problems down the road.

Thanks for the advice, guys.
I think I'll get Honda MTF. But I might try MTF made by other brand.
Anyone wants free 2qt of Redline D4 ATF? hehe
