Default my friend blew his head gasket

my friend has an early 90s escort and blew his head gasket the other day. he told me it was gonna cost 600-1000 dollars to fix. i was like wtf? that sounds rediculous(sp?) to me. does is really cost that much or his he getting ripped? thanks

well considering how hard it would be to find replacements.......
i don't know man. that sounds a little steep to me.
you could ask your bro if hes considered getting a honda or acura??
that was meant in a good way or course, but seriously it may be cheaper to fix that than to buy a new car, but it just might be a good idea in the long run.
then again it depends on how much the escort is worth, and how many miles it took to blow the head gasket, it could happen again....... knock on wood.

Parts are a breeze to get, it's a fricken' Ford.

Any shop will charge that much to fix it. It's a pain in the ass, time comsuming job for a shop to do... so of course it will cost a lot.

You can do it yourself in your driveway over a couple days for $200-$300.
