I am somewhat serious about purchasing this car. Here's the deal, this dealership which happens to be a smaller one, has a 98 GS-R for sale for $7,495 with 42k. Here's the catch, theft recovery. I called them up asked what the deal is with the car. The 98 GS-R had the engine and tranny stolen. Everything else on the car was untouched. This dealership got the car and had a 99 GS-R that got hit on the back side. They said they took the 99 GS-R engine and tranny and put it in the 98. The bluebook value on this car is 11,200 i believe. What would you offer them on this car? Is there anything special I should check with VIN codes to check the mileage on the 99 engine or how i get information on that engine. Anything else in particular that should be checked on these GS-R's when being purchased? Do you think it's a good deal for what it is, if it's true.

FYI, before you buy that car, A) Have it taken to a good independent mechanic and have them tear over every single inch with a fine tooth comb, and B) Be prepared to drive that car into the ground, as it will have almost no resale value.
