It's true. We've gotten a couple of hints here and there, but we can't deny it any longer. When we walk him he longes and growls and black people while he doesn't with people of any other race. I think it's because we live down the street from a school in the City of Baltimore. So when the school lets out all the kids (who are all black) walk by and we have caught then teasing him and hitting the fence with sticks. So I think that is what caused it. At first we didn't believe it because there are like 5 or 6 black people that he is friends with and walk by and stick there hands in the fence and pet him. But I think they are just the exceptions because he is used to them. I am going to try and get a few of my friends who are black to come over and try to "unracist" my dog. I am also going to try to find an obedience course with maybe a black instructor or some black people in it. But that might be hard cause black people only account for 15% of the dog owners in the US. Any other ideas guys?

Btw, my dog is a 1 year old lab mix incase anyone was wondering.

 

my friends cat (neutered) only likes when guys pet him and not girls

 

if my dog jsut didn't like black people it would be ok....but he trys to attack them and we have to pull him back on the leash and yell at him. We live in baltimore city and pass a lot of black people when we walk him so we have to fix it.

my dog, my ex gfs dog, alot of dogs I know bark at black people.

I think they bark at them cause they look different from the color people they are around most of the day and it freaks them out....

I wonder if dogs owned by black people bark at white people...:eek3:

 

my dog is the same way.. she will never bark, not even at other dogs,only at 3 people.. one is a handicapped guy (downs syndrome) , the others are my asian neighbors, everyone else she loves.

 

I have heard quite a bit about this happening, esp. with labs. When raised by white owners, a lot of dogs end up "not liking," to put it gently, black people. The ony way to really cure it is to have the dog meet a LOT of black people under peaceful circumstances.
